Editing and mixing a live concert is a very special pair of shoes. I start with the bare microphone tracks and audio signals from the room to capture the mood of the audience; often, however, this little information conveys very little of the concert experience. So I have to correct mistakes, mix the voices into their respective functions (lead voice, accompaniment, beatbox, bass, etc.), create artificial spaces that are compatible with the original concert hall and, last but not least, create a sonic comparability with the artist’s other releases. All in all, a work with a great deal of sensitivity.
